A method in which a smelting agent consisting mainly of a CaO source and an oxygen source are added to molten iron to conduct a dephosphorization treatment. In the method, the molten iron is dephosphorized so that the slag after the treatment has a basicity of 2.2-3.5, excluding 2.2, and a total iron concentration of 10-30 mass% and that the final treatment temperature of the molten iron is 1,320°C or higher. Thus, the dephosphorization can be accelerated while ensuring a high manganese yield and the molten iron can be efficiently dephosphorized. |
