A device for drying laundry, comprising a standing tube (1) and a retractable and extendable linkage (2) having pivotable arms (3), wherein the linkage (2) can be folded open such that the arms (3) of the linkage (2) project from the standing tube (1) in the radial direction and are opened out to receive laundry, is, in view of the object of providing a device with a protection which can be easily opened out and removed and stored without great effort, characterized in that a protection (4) is accommodated in the standing tube (1), said protection being able to be opened out together with the arms (3) and at least partially covering the arms (3).
