<p>Provided according to the present invention is a production method comprising: a first step for obtaining a slurry containing precipitated rutile-type titanium oxide particles by adjusting the chlorine ion concentration in an aqueous solution of titanium tetrachloride to 0.5 mol/L or greater and less than 4.4 mol/L and then raising the temperature in a range of 25 - 75°C and hydrolyzing titanium tetrachloride; a second step for obtaining a slurry with the dissolved water soluble salts eliminated by filtering and washing in water the slurry obtained in the first step; a third step for hydrothermally reacting the slurry obtained in the second step in the presence of an organic acid; a fourth step for obtaining a slurry with the dissolved water soluble salts eliminated by filtering and washing the slurry obtained in the third step; a fifth step for obtaining a dispersion by adding an acid to the slurry obtained in the fourth step and, after deflocculation, carrying out a wet dispersion treatment; and a sixth step for eliminating surplus acid and water soluble salts from the dispersion obtained in the fifth step. According to this method of the present invention, a dispersion of high crystallinity rutile-type titanium oxide particles can be obtained with fine particles.</p> |
