<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalytic material for efficiently burning a particulate matter discharged from a diesel engine or the like. <P>SOLUTION: The catalytic material is obtained by mixing the primary particle 11 of a compound oxide with the primary particle 12 of a noble metal and forming a secondary particle 13 to be coagulated. At least a part of the primary particle 12 of the noble metal is exposed to the surface of the secondary particle 13.
