<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic refrigeration material and a method for manufacturing the magnetic refrigeration material. <P>SOLUTION: The magnetic refrigeration material 17 in a bulk shape is molded by pressurizing and heating flakes 13 of the magnetic refrigeration material, micronized to have a diameter of 214 μm, by spark plasma sintering (SPS). In the sintering process, the surface pressure applied to the material is about 42 MPa, and the sintering temperature is 1,100°C. The magnetic refrigeration material after sintering has a fill rate of 95% and α-Fe of 2 wt.%. Such a magnetic refrigeration material is formed into a desired shape without fracturing upon working and is suppressed in the generation of a crack upon hydrogen absorption. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
