A lighting device wherein the density (D) of the arrangement of light-deflecting elements increases as the distance in a second direction from an incident surface (7L) to the location where a light-deflecting element (18) is positioned increases. The array patterns of the light-deflecting elements (18) are divided into a plurality of regions in the second direction. Within each region, the array pitch of the light-deflecting elements (18) in a first direction is substantially constant, while the array pitch of the light-deflecting elements (18) in the second direction changes so as to become increasingly smaller as the distance from the incident surface (7L) increases. Among the plurality of regions, the array pitch of the light-deflecting elements (18) in the first direction changes discontinuously, and grows increasingly smaller as the regions become farther from the incident surface (7L), while the array pitch of the light-deflecting elements (18) in the second direction changes discontinuously, and the array pitch of a first region near the incident surface (7L) is smaller than the array pitch of a second region separated from the incident surface (7L). |
