<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source, a discharge lamp drive method and a projector capable of driving a discharge lamp, while restricting the discharge lamp from blackening and also the electrode to electrode distance from spreading. <P>SOLUTION: A light source device 1 comprises: a discharge lamp 500 having a pair of electrodes 610 and 710 which are disposed facing each other in a cavity part filled with discharge medium; a discharge lamp drive device 200 which applies drive voltage to the pair of electrodes 610 and 710; and a voltage detection unit which detects a voltage across the pair of electrodes 610 and 710. The discharge lamp drive device 200 is composed so as to apply a first AC voltage having its frequencies increased to the pair of electrodes 610 and 710 when the voltage across the pair of electrodes drops to a lower limit value, or a second AC voltage having its frequencies reduced to the pair of electrodes 610 and 710 when the voltage across the pair of electrodes rises to an upper limit value. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
