摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for driving an electrophoretic display device for preventing local decrease in a contrast ratio or generation of afterimage while maintaining a DC balance. <P>SOLUTION: The driving method comprises: a first image display step (S2) of displaying a first image in a first color in a display unit by a partial drive system that comprises applying a voltage based on a drive pulse signal to a common electrode, applying a voltage to each of a plurality of pixel electrodes based on an inverted signal or a normal signal of a drive pulse signal to rewrite an image to be displayed in the display unit; a first image erase step (S4) of subsequently displaying the background of the first image by use of the first color in the display unit by the partial drive system; a second image display step (S6) of subsequently displaying the background of a second image by use of a second color in the display unit by the partial drive system; and a second image erase step (S8) of subsequently displaying the second image in the second color in the display unit by the partial drive system.
