The invention enables playback of high-quality content. A transmission clock is provided from a synch (repeater) device to a source device, via a clock signal line. In synchronization with the transmission clock from the synch (repeater) device, the source device sends content data to the synch (repeater) device via a specified number of differential signal lines. High-quality content playback is possible in the synch (repeater) device without using an additional line besides the differential signal lines or the clock signal line. For example, the synch (repeater) device supplies the transmission clock to the source device by receiving a demand from the source device for supply of the transmission clock.
