The present invention provides a silicate fluorescent substance represented by the compound of chemical formula (1). [Chemical formula (1)]: aM1 4-xO·bM2O·cM3 2O3·dM4O2·eM5X2 : M6 x. In the formula, M1 and M2 are each at least one alkali earth metal, M3 is at least one trivalent metal, M4 is at least one tetravalent metal, M5 is at least one divalent metal, X is a halogen ion, M6 is an activator, and 0.9<=a<=1.1, 0<=b<=1, 0<=c<=2, 1.9<=d<=2.1, 0<e<=20 and 0.01<=x<=0.3. The silicate fluorescent substance according to the present invention has small and even particles, exhibits excellent colour rendering properties and luminous efficacy, even when used in a small amount, and thus is very economical. |
