PURPOSE: A clip device and a method based on content information of a portable terminal are provided to clip specific data, thereby easily sharing and consuming the data. CONSTITUTION: When a user performs a clip function service, a clip device generates clip binary data and XML(Extensible Markup Language) data(603). When data information is inputted from the user, a portable terminal classifies selected content by using the data information, automatic inputted data information, and automatic inputted surrounding information(604-606). When the clip function service is completed, the portable terminal determines whether or not a sync function of a server is activated(608,609). When the sync function is activated, the portable terminal transmits clipped content to the server(610).
