<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve ink landing position adjustment accuracy while suppressing the amount of ink used in adjusting the ink landing position. <P>SOLUTION: A recording apparatus includes: a recording head in which a first nozzle array and a second nozzle array for discharging ink to a recording medium are arranged in a predetermined direction; a reading means; a first obtaining means configured to obtain information about a shift amount between the respective recording positions of the ink discharged from the first and second nozzle arrays for each of a plurality of positions on the recording media determined in a predetermined direction; a record control means configured to record first and second distance detection patterns by discharging ink from the first and second nozzle arrays; a second obtaining means configured to obtain, based on the result of reading the first and second distance detection patterns by the reading means, information about a distance between the printing position of the first distance detection pattern and the printing position of the second distance detection pattern; and a determination means configured to determine ink discharge timing of the second nozzle array based on the first information and the second information for correcting the shift of ink recording position of the second nozzle array from the ink recording position of the first nozzle array. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
