<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize appropriate arrangement of an advertisement image in a recording medium that matches user's preference in the case of adding an advertisement image when outputting a document image on a recording medium. <P>SOLUTION: An image output device comprises: an advertisement information storage unit for storing advertisement information sorted into plural categories; and a user information storage unit for storing attribute information of a user. The image output device detects a margin area included in image data to be outputted, and selects advertisement information in a category appropriate for the size and shape of the detected margin area and matching the attribute information.
