Provided is a lithium secondary battery which has high capacity, especially a lithium secondary battery which has improved cycle characteristics by suppressing decrease in the capacity during use in a high temperature environment and has a long service life. A lithium secondary battery of the present invention comprises: a positive electrode active material layer that contains a positive electrode active material; a negative electrode active material layer that contains a silicon-based material as a negative electrode active material; and an electrolyte solution in which the positive electrode active material layer and the negative electrode active material layer are immersed. The electrolyte solution contains a specific carbonic acid ester.
