PURPOSE: An electric power steering system and a method for reducing reaction force during the cooperative control of vehicles are provided to reduce reaction force to a steering wheel by generating compensation current during the cooperative control of the electric stability control device. CONSTITUTION: An electric power steering system for reducing reaction force during the cooperative control of vehicles comprises: a vehicle speed sensor(404); an active front steering angle receiver(410); a pinion angle sensor(408); an electric power steering motor(114) which supports the steering of vehicles; a cooperative control angle receiving unit(414); and a compensatory electric power steering control unit(412) which generates a standard control current by an active front steering angle and a reaction assist current. |
