A downlink control information sending method, a blind detection method, a base station and terminal equipment. The downlink control information sending method includes: a base station generating downlink control information so that the bit length of the downlink control information of terminal equipment configuring a carrier segment is equal to that of the downlink control information with the same format of terminal equipment not configuring a carrier segment; and the base station sending the downlink control information to the terminal equipment configuring a carrier segment in a public search area of the control channel. Alternatively, the base station does not send corresponding user-specific downlink control information to the terminal equipment configuring a carrier segment in the public search area of the control channel but sends user-specific downlink control information in a user-specific search area. The above-mentioned embodiments can avoid increasing the bit length of the public search area, thus avoiding increasing the number of times of blind detection of terminal equipment and avoiding increasing calculation complexity.
