Producing a polyether polyol A and a monofunctional polyether polyol B, comprises: (i) preparing a solution or a dispersion of at least one starting compound (S-1) in at least one monofunctional starting compound (S-2); (ii) reacting the solution or the dispersion obtained from step (i) with at least one alkylene oxide, optionally after adding a catalyst; (iii) optionally separating the obtained product mixture from the catalyst; and (iv) separating the monofunctional polyether polyol B by distillation under reduced pressure or by stripping with inert gas or water. Producing a polyether polyol A and a monofunctional polyether polyol B, comprises: (i) preparing a solution or a dispersion of at least one starting compound (S-1) exhibiting at least four Zerewitinoff-active hydrogen atoms, in at least one monofunctional starting compound (S-2), with a weight ratio of S-1 to S-2 of 20:80-85:15; (ii) reacting the solution or the dispersion obtained from step (i) with at least one alkylene oxide, optionally after adding a catalyst, to obtain a product mixture comprising polyether polyol A obtained from (S-1) and at least one alkylene oxide, and monofunctional polyether polyol B obtained from (S-2) and at least one alkylene oxide; (iii) optionally separating the obtained product mixture from the catalyst; and (iv) separating the monofunctional polyether polyol B by distillation under reduced pressure or by stripping with inert gas or water, to obtain a residue comprising polyether polyol A and monofunctional polyether polyol B (upto 15 wt.%, based on the sum of the weights of the polyether polyol A and the mono-functional polyether polyol B). |
