1111610 Coating apparatus SVENSKA FLACTFABRIKEN AB 7 Dec 1966 [9 Dec 1965] 54842/66 Headings B1R and R4 Apparatus for spray-painting intermittently or continuously advanced objects and including a channel 1 which is ventilated with air supplied for example at the roof thereof and removed by suction at the floor, the air being conducted to a drop separator in the form of a chamber 6 below the channel and thence to an outlet shaft 13, the channel being equipped with means 14 for the supply of washing liquid, is characterized by the provision of an intermediate bottom 9 between the channel 1 and the chamber 6, which bottom comprises a number of stepped elements 9a, 9b, and 9c located one after the other, the horizontal portions (treads) 10a, 106, 10c of said steps being formed as a plane flushed with liquid or as a shallow liquid basin and the vertical portions (risers) 11a, 11b, 11c being provided with longitudinal slots 12a, 12b, 12c to form outlet openings for conducting away the air to the drop separator, the means 14 for supplying washing liquid being mounted at least at the uppermost element and the said slots being provided with means for adjusting their width such that the outflowing ventilation air is imparted a speed, which is sufficient to intermix by ejector effect the washing liquid into the air-stream and to atomize said liquid therein. The stepped elements may be constructed to form a bottom including from one channel side to the other, as shown, or to form a bottom inclined from both sides towards the middle and the outlet openings in each element may be divided into a series of individually adjustable slots separated from each other. Separate liquid supply means for each element may be provided as indicated at 19.
