[Also in Division E1] A metal fence post 15 has apertures 34 adapted to grip the shanks of nails, hooks, or (as shown) staples 14 for fencing wires 12, the post comprising a rear tube 16 having a slot 18 defined by diverging portions 20 integral with overlapping front panels 28, 30 in which aligned pairs of apertures 34 are provided. The staple or nail 14 is inserted through the apertures 34 and its points forced into the slot 18, thereby laterally displacing the panels 28, 30 so that the apertures 34 become misaligned and their edges resiliently grip the shanks of the staple or nail.
