USE OF RECOMBINANT TYPE III POLYKETIDE SYNTHASES (PKS III) OF MARINE BROWN ALGAE

The present invention relates to a method for producing polyphenolic compounds, i.e. phloroglucinol or a derivative thereof, using a type III polyketide synthase (PKSIII) of a marine brown alga. The invention also relates to recombinant nucleic acids encoding a type III polyketide synthase (PKSIII) of the brown alga Ectocarpus siliculosus (E. siliculosus), to recombinant vectors comprising these nucleic acids, and also to host cells comprising these vectors. Finally, the invention relates to a method for preparing various compounds by means of the polyphenolic compounds produced according to the abovementioned method.
