PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten time required for determining a focus state in autofocus processing.

SOLUTION: A camera body 100 includes: a lens drive control section 524 for controlling a position of a focusing lens; and a focus determining section 521 for determining a focus on the basis of whether a defocus amount according to the position of the focusing lens is within a permissible focus range of a first focus determination standard. The focus determining section 521 determines focus according to a second focus determination standard expanding a permissible focus range as compared with the first focus determination standard, in addition to the first focus determination standard, when the defocus amount changes from a value less than a lower limit value of the permissible focus range of the first focus determination standard to a value more than an upper limit value according to changes of the position of the focusing lens by the control of the lens drive control section 524, or when the defocus amount changes from a value more than the upper limit value to a value less than the lower limit value.
