<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gradation correction technique capable of keeping the gradation of a high-density region even if Dmax is adjusted vertically. <P>SOLUTION: A gradation correction method measures the density of a test print outputted on the basis of an output value for a print engine drive signal derived from image data through gradation conversion using an LUT, and performs change setting of the Dmax obtained from an obtained sensitometry. On the basis of the Dmax having undergone the change setting, the high-density region of the LUT is adjusted. Then, the method determines whether the gradation of the high density region of an input-density property obtained from the result of the density measurement on a re-outputted test print is within a permissible range. Until the gradation satisfies permission conditions, the gradation adjustment, re-output, and gradation determination are repeated. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
