Disclosed in an embodiment of the present invention are a short message processing method and related system, used to solve the problem that a calling terminal cannot transmit a short message to a called terminal with no MSISDN, thus achieving short message communication between a terminal and the terminal with no MSISDN. In the embodiment of the present invention, the calling terminal transmits a short message transfer message to an MSC or an SGSN, the short message transfer message indicating that the called terminal has no MSISDN. By carrying the SIP URI of the called terminal in the short message transfer message, the calling terminal can transmit the indication and the SIP URI of the called terminal to an SMS-SC via the MSC, the SGSN or an SMS-IWMSC; and the SMS-SC achieves the short message communication with the called terminal via an SMS-GMSC and an IP-SM-GW. |
