The method involves collecting notification streams (101), determining a current semantic association (104), and determining an actual group of notifications (103), where the notifications comprise identical format category. One of the notifications is extracted from the group of notifications. Field pairs are searched in the extracted notification with the fulfillment of associative semantic features of the semantic association. Protocol format of positions of the notifications is determined (105) with respect to the field pairs and the semantic features of the semantic association. An independent claim is also included for a system for designing a protocol.
