The present invention relates to undecenoyl dipeptide derivatives represented by the following chemical formula 1, and a skin whitening cosmetic composition containing the same. The undecenoyl dipeptide derivatives of the present invention act as an antagonist of an a-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (a-MSH) receptor, MC1R, to inhibit the generation of melanin in cells. In addition, while a conventional MC1R antagonist has a skin whitening effect and causes an inflammatory response, the undecenoyl dipeptide derivatives do not cause the inflammatory response and even the effect of inhibiting the inflammatory response caused by UV was proved. Further, the stimulus by endothelins was also inhibited, which was due to the cross-reaction at a downstream signaling process of MC1R and endothelin receptor type B. The undecenoyl dipeptide derivatives are nontoxic to the human body and have excellent skin penetration and stability, and thus can be very effectively used as skin whitening cosmetics accompanied by an anti-inflammatory effect.
