The present invention has: a first step for readying a solution containing a sugar chain; a second step for bringing the solution into contact with a trapping carrier that bonds specifically to the sugar chain, and obtaining a trapping carrier having the sugar chain which is bonded thereto and a substance other than the bonded sugar chain; a third step for removing the substance from the trapping carrier; a fourth step for re-detaching, from the trapping carrier, the sugar chain which has bonded to the trapping carrier, and labeling the re-detached sugar chain using a labeling reagent; and a fifth step for separating and refining the labeled sugar chain and the trapping carrier. In the third step, a multi-well filter plate having a plurality of wells each being provided with a filter is used, a cleaning liquid for removing the substance from the trapping carrier is supplied into each well of the multi-well filter plate housing the trapping carrier having the substance and the sugar chain, and then a pressure difference is generated between the top and the bottom of each of the wells, whereby the cleaning liquid and the trapping carrier are separated using each of the filters. It is thereby possible to separate and refine the sugar chain at a high degree of accuracy, at a large quantity, and using a simple process. |
