PURPOSE: A device for increasing torque in a HAT(Vertical Axis Turbine) system is provided to maximize the efficiency of a vertical shaft turbine even when the flow velocity of fluids is slow. CONSTITUTION: A device(2) for increasing torque in a HAT(Vertical Axis Turbine) system(1) comprises water tubes, a support frame, nozzles(24,25), pumps(20,21), a sensor(32), and a controller(30). The lower parts of the water tubes are fixed to a vertical shaft turbine at constant intervals. One end of the support frame is connected to an upper part of a rotor shaft(12) by a bearing, and the other end is connected to the water tubes. The nozzles are formed in the water tubes. The pumps supply water by pumping up the water to the water tubes. The sensor senses the positions of blades, and outputs a detected signal. The controller controls the pumps by receiving the detected signal. The device increases the torque by spraying the water through the nozzles according to the controller.
