<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording liquid causing neither cloggings nor staining on the tip of an ink-jet recording head and in the flow channel thereof, thus enabling giving highly fine images in high-speed printing, and enabling feeding itself in proper quantities in such a high-speed printing operation, and to provide an image-forming apparatus mounted with a line head using the printing liquid. <P>SOLUTION: The recording liquid, for use in an ink-jet recording head, comprises water, a coloring material, a wetting agent and a penetrant consisting of 2,4-diethyl-1,5-pentanediol.
