<p>A device for inhibiting the growth of organic matter on an object exposed to the natural environment, the device comprises a carrier and a metal component carried by the carrier, wherein the metal component forms a growth-inhibiting substance upon exposure to the natural environment. Preferably the metal component comprises copper or zinc which may oxidize to form copper sulphate or zinc sulphate as the growth inhibiting substance. The organic matter which is inhibited may be moss, algae, mildew, fungi, liverwort or lichen. Preferably, the object which the device is on is a window frame, door frame, solar glazing device, photovoltaic module, roofing component, electrical device, ornamental artifact, conservatory element or building support element. The device may further comprise an attachment component to facilitate attachment of the carrier to the object which may be an adhesive and may be integral with the carrier, and the carrier may comprise a tape.</p> |
