PURPOSE: A steering control apparatus and a method thereof are provided to perform a steering control in advance by monitoring the driver's steering and a travelling car and judging the right turning in case of the situation hard to be judged by ESC wherein over steer occurs, thereby guiding a driver's steering in a right direction. CONSTITUTION: A steering control method is composed of the following steps of: judging whether a car is in a high-speed running or in a turning movement; judging whether over steer occurs or not in case of a turning movement according to the judgment; inputting torque overlay by the degree of the over steer in case of the occurrence of over steer according to the judgment; and judging(S400) the occurrence of over steer until the car is stabilized according to the input torque overlay.
