<p>A system for mounting an item 1, particularly a mobile telephone, to a substrate 2, particularly a vehicle dashboard, comprises a first mounting plate 4 of magnetic material securable to substrate 2, and a second mounting plate 3, mountable to the item, that includes a magnet 7. Mounting plates 3, 4 comprise cooperable locating portions engageable to prevent plates 3, 4 rotaitng or sliding relative to each other. Preferably, first mounting plate 4 has a square array of four circular recesses (14a, 14b, 14c, 14d, Figure 2), and second mounting plate 3 has four circular magnets (8a, 8b, 8c, 8d, Figure 3) in corresponding protrusions (7a, 7b, 7c, 7d, Figure 3). Mounting plates 3, 4 may be secured to item 1 or substrate 2 using adhesive pads 5, 6. Mounting brackets incorporating the features of first mounting plate 4 are also disclosed.</p> |
