PURPOSE: A network device and an operation control method thereof are provided to dynamically manage the power of a network interface according to the existence of an external device connected to the network device. CONSTITUTION: A network interface unit(130) transmits a message to an external device in an activated state. The message turns on or off the power of the external device. When one or more external devices connected to the network interface unit do not exist, a control unit(170) converts the state of the network interface unit into an inactivated state.
