PURPOSE: A controlling method for an escort lamp for vehicles is provided to improve driver safety and convenience by controlling the escort lamp according to the distance between a smart key of the driver and the vehicle. CONSTITUTION: A signal transmitting part(40) transmits position identification signals. The position identification signal confirms the position of a smart key(10). A signal receiving part(42) receives responding signals transmitted by the smart key. A control part(50) determines whether an escort lamp(60) satisfies the driving conditions of the escort lamp and turns on the escort lamp. The control part controls the switching of the escort lamp according to the reception of the responding signals.
