<p>A motor-driven power steering apparatus having a preload means 30 which energizes, via a spring 60 and bumper stop 70, a bearing 23A of a worm gear 29 in a predetermined preload direction, the preload means 30 has a bearing case 40 which fits into a guide hole (53, fig 6B) in a guide case 50. The bearing case 40 has a spring accommodation hole (44) which is arranged so as to cross a bearing accommodation hole (43) provided in the bearing case 40. Guided portions (101) are provided on an outer periphery of the bearing case 40 so that the bearing case 40 may be transitioned fitted in the guide hole (53) which has flat surfaces (102) that contact the guide portions (101). The preload means 30 is arranged in an attaching potion 90 of a gear housing 11. Bearing case 40 may be made of plastics, the guide case 50 may be made of metal and the bumper stop 70 may be rubber.</p> |
