发明名称 Improvements in or relating to the bonding of ceramic members to metal members and of ceramic members to each other
摘要 1,129,951. Ceramic seals ; welding by pressure; brazing. SMITHS INDUSTRIES Ltd. 29 April, 1966 [29 Jan., 1965], No. 3929/65. Headings B3R and B3V. A method of bonding a ceramic to a ceramic or to metal comprises pressing together the surfaces to be joined and causing relative movement between the surfaces transversely to the direction of the applied pressure to form a melt at the surfaces which solidifies, producing the bond. One of the parts may be stationary while the other is rotated or reciprocated, e.g. ultrasonically. In a ceramic-to-metal example, a recess is machined in the metal member and filled with Ti, Zr, Hf or Th braze material or an alloy of any of these when the metal to be bonded is Ni, Cr, Cu, Fe, Mo, Pt, Co or an alloy of any of these. Alternatively, the braze material may be from the Ni group and the metal to be bonded from the Ti group. The braze material may be a powder or, to obviate the need for a recess in one or both faces to be bonded, one or more discs. In a ceramic-to-ceramic example,. the braze material is an alloy or mixture of metals or alloys from both the above Ni and Ti groups. The ceramic material may be forsterite or have a high alumina content. As applied to bonding W or Mo to a ceramic, e.g. forsterite having a glassy phase, without an additional brazing material and in an oxidizing atmosphere, e.g. air, the frictional heating melts the glassy phase of the forsterite, and traces of W-oxide or Mo-oxide formed during heating mix with the glassy phase. Upon solidification, the mixture produces a bond.
