Display element with reflector

The element (1) has a chromophoric surface (2) e.g. ring (6), colored with a corresponding color and arranged parallel or tilted to an observation direction (3). A reflector i.e. liquid or gaseous mirror, is movable such that a variable portion of the surface is visible when viewing from the observation direction. The reflector has a movement axis running perpendicular to the direction. The reflector is formed as a mirror surface of liquid. A diffusing lens is arranged downstream to the reflector. A light source is arranged below the reflector. An independent claim is also included for a method for representing a color using a display element.
