Bandwith allocation management for a set of data sessions in a communication network

A method is disclosed for performing bandwidth allocation management for a set of data sessions, to optimise the overall bandwidth usage in a communication network, comprising a. determining a set of session categories; b. associating a session category to each session of the set of data sessions; c. monitoring the bandwidth usage of the data sessions per session category; d. determining a minimum bandwidth value for each session category; wherein the determining the minimum bandwidth value is based on bandwidth usage of sessions which have been identified as providing insufficient quality of experience to their respective users in a category. Also corresponding systems and modules are disclosed.
