PURPOSE: A washing machine having balancers is provided to reduce noise and vibration caused by balancers during the rotation of a spin tub by installing the balancers at a front member and a rear member to reduce noise and vibration caused by the rotation of the spin tub when the spin tub undergoes a deviation between the center of rotation by fabricating two balancers having different weights. CONSTITUTION: A washing machine has a spin tub(10) which is rotatably disposed in a water reservoir and allows laundry to be placed within and washed therein. The spin tub includes multiple dehydrating holes(10a); a cylindrical body(11); a front member(12) which is coupled to the open front end of the body and provided with an opening(14) permitting the laundry to be placed in or removed from the spin tub; and a rear member(13) which is coupled to the open rear end of the body and with the rotary shaft for spinning the spin tub. The front member is provided, at an edge thereof, with an annular recess(15) which has the cross section of an approximately "C" shape and is open to the front of the front member in order to hold one of the balancers(20). The rear member is provided, at an edge thereof, with an annular recess which is open to the rear of the rear member in order to hold the other of the balancers. The front and rear members are fitted into and coupled to the front or rear edge of the body. A first balancer(20a) installed at the front edge of the spin tub and a second balancer(20b) installed at the rear edge of the spin tub respectively include a first housing(30) of an annular shape; and a second housing(40) of an annular shape and welded at and coupled to the first housing, which form one housing in an annular shape to be fitted into each recess of the spin tub. The balancers of an annular shape, in the inner circumference, include a plurality of flanges(22) having a threaded hole(22a). The balancers are filled, in the internal space thereof, with a plurality of metal balls(21) to perform a balancing function; and viscous fluid capable of adjusting a speed of motion of the balls. |
