摘要 PURPOSE: A stereoscopic image display device and a driving method thereof are provided to minimize a flicker which a viewer changing the position feels by controlling the open ratio of a penetration region among task switchable regions and moving a barrier region. CONSTITUTION: A stereoscopic image display device is formed in a display panel(100) emitting a two-dimensional image, and includes multiple switchable regions and a switchable panel(200) emitting the two-dimensional image in a three-dimensional image. Each switchable region of the switchable panel is divided into a barrier region and a penetration region, and performs an on/off function according to whether a voltage is applied in an electrode formed inside or not. The switchable panel includes a first and second substrate(200a, 200b) facing with each other between liquid crystal layers(230), multiple lower electrodes(210) formed in the first substrate(200a), and an upper substrate(240) formed in the front side of the second substrate(200b). The switchable panel formed on the display panel is connected to a voltage applying unit(300) in the multiple lower electrodes, and the liquid crystal molecule of the liquid crystal layer is selectively arranged by applying a voltage from the voltage applying unit. A task switchable region having a width of 'S' corresponding to a task pitch according to the arrangement of liquid crystal molecules when a voltage is selectively applied in a lower electrode is divided into a barrier region(B) and a penetration region(T) inside of a liquid crystal layer. The switchable region is repeated to the cross direction of a drawing. The liquid crystal molecule of the barrier region is arranged to block the emission of light irradiated to the switchable panel through the display panel in a back light, and the liquid crystal molecule of a penetration region is arranged to penetrate light.
