1,057,912. Automatic process control. H. EICKEN. April 24, 1964 [April 26, 1963], No. 17186/64. Heading G3R. The quantity of liquid taken up by a material during continuous processing is maintained constant by automatically controlling the pressure of rollers squeezing the material in dependence on the electrical resistance of the material after squeezing. As applied to warp thread sizing, the threads are passed to the squeeze rollers through an aqueous solution the concentration of which is maintained constant automatically. The moisture content of the treated threads is maintained constant by automatic control of thread speed. If the speed of the threads is reduced, for example to mend broken threads, change in the amount of size taken up is avoided by automatically controlling the pressure of the squeeze rollers, e. g. through a hydraulic device, in dependence on the electrical resistance of the thread after squeezing. |
