The system has a sharpening grill (1), and a carpet (103) for introduction of linen (101) into the grill. The grill includes a separation band (109) that forms an angle with the carpet. An actuator (303) is adapted to be movable between two positions with regard to the carpet for varying the angle between the carpet and the band between two values i.e. value for passage of a front edge of the linen, and value for passage of a trailing edge of the linen. An independent claim is also included for a method for sharpening of linen.
