PURPOSE: A flavonoid is provided to suppress ATP hydrolysis activity of SARS coronavirus helicase and to strongly suppress SARS coronavirus helicase activity. CONSTITUTION: A flavonoid is selected from myricetin, scutellarein, and baicalein. A pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating SARS contains one or more as active ingredient, selected from the group consisting of the flavonoid, a derivative thereof, and a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof. The composition contains 0.01-99 wt% of the flavonoid.
