The tensioner has a tension element movably mounted relative to a body (2) and made to contact with an accessory belt. A damping device limits movements of the tension element by solid friction with the body. A heat pipe (23) dissipates thermal energy produced by damping of the tension element. The heat pipe includes a heating zone (27) adjacent to a friction zone (22) of the damping device. The heat pipe includes a cooling zone (28) adjacent to a dissipation zone (29), which is formed to facilitate dissipation of thermal energy out of the tensioner.
