PURPOSE: A light emitting device, a light emitting device package, a light unit, and a method for fabricating the light emitting device are provided to improve optical extraction efficiency by using a current blocking layer. CONSTITUTION: A first light emitting structure(10) comprises a semiconductor layer(11) of a first conductivity type, a first active layer(12), and a second semiconductor layer(13) of a second conductivity type. An ion implantation layer(45) is formed at the side of the light emitting structure. An electrode(80) is electrically connected to the semiconductor layer of the first conductivity type. A current blocking layer(40) is formed between the first light emitting structure and an ohmic contact layer(15).
