The device (10) has a guiding unit (11) for guiding cables (13) in a predetermined vertical direction, where the guiding unit is formed as a hollow housing to receive the cables that pass through the housing. The cables enter through an opening formed at the base of the housing and exit through an opening formed at the top of the housing. A top surface of the housing has preset rigidity so as to determine a pre-selected deformation amplitude equivalent to capping force applied along an axial direction of the housing during a capping operation of a gearbox control unit in the body of a car. An independent claim is also included for a method for assembling cables.
