<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that includes a plurality of image forming units having a power supply that applies an AC voltage to a charging member in common, and still allows each image forming unit to obtain a sufficient amount of a discharge current. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus 100 includes an AC power supply that outputs an AC voltage to be applied to at least two of a plurality of charging members in common, an AC current measurement device, and control means for controlling a peak-to-peak voltage value of the AC voltage. The control means determines the maximum value of the necessary peak-to-peak voltage value of the AC voltage calculated for each charging member as a target value for controlling the AC voltage to be applied to the at least two charging members from the AC power supply at a constant voltage during image formation. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
