The vehicle power supply system of the present invention is provided with the following: first and second power lines (PL1 and NL1), connected to a power control unit (PCU) (120); first and second power storage devices (BAT1 and BAT2) configured so as to be individually rechargeable; a capacitor (C1) connected between the first power line (PL1) and the second power line (NL1); a switching unit configured so as to be switchable between a first state, in which either the first or the second power storage device (BAT1, BAT2) is connected between the first power line (PL1) and the second power line (NL1), and a second state in which the first and the second power devices (BAT1, BAT2) are connected in series between the first power line (PL1) and the second power line (NL1); and a control device (300) for charging the capacitor (C1), in which the capacitor (C1) is charged by putting the switching unit into the first state and then the switching unit is put into the second state.
