The armrest (1) has an armrest part (3) swingable around a pivotal axis between a lower utilizable position and an upper rest position. A bracket part is directly or indirectly fastened at a vehicle body i.e. rear seat carrier (22). The armrest part is connected with the bracket part by bearing bolts. A locking device comprises bolt and operating elements, which are arranged at the armrest part. The bolt element is adjustable between an engaging position with an attachment at a counter bearing and a disengaging position by the operating element. The bearing is arranged at the bracket part.
