<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact illumination unit having high light utilization efficiency. <P>SOLUTION: An illumination unit comprises: a light source 1 emitting linear light; a light guide plate 2 having an incident end face on which the linear light from the light source 1 impinges, a side surface which guides the light L impinging on the incident end face, and an emission end face non-parallel with the incident end face; a counter mirror 4 disposed to face the emission end face of the light guide plate 2; and a deflection member 3A disposed in the vicinity of the emission end face of the light guide plate 2 and deflecting the light emitted from the emission end face to the counter mirror 4. An illuminated surface 6a is irradiated, in strip-shape, with the light L1 reflected on the emission end face and emitted from the side surface, the light L2 emitted from the emission end face and reflected on the counter mirror 4, and the light L3 emitted from the emission end face, deflected by the deflection member 3A and reflected on the counter mirror 4. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
