The present invention relates to a location estimation and data transmission method wherein the location information of the points of interest (POI) is embedded as a watermark into an audio signal to be output from a speaker or similar audio source broadcasting at the point of interest (POI), and the subscriber stations (5) estimate the location of the points of interest (POI) by decoding the watermarks by means of the audio watermark decoders.
